In 1970, the Government of Indonesia passed a new Law on Basic Provisions of the Judiciary (Law No. 14, year 1970) as an implementation of articles 24 and 25 of the Constitution of 1945. According to these articles, the judiciary should be independent, free from interference of other state powers in administering and preserving justice based on Pancasila.rnThe publication of this English version is meant to disseminate the said law especially among foreign readers and to assist those who are making a study of the Indonesian judiciary.rnWhile closing this preface, I like to convey my thanks and appreciations to all who have given their contribution in the publication of this book.rn
