The other major legislative change during this period has been creation of the criminal bankruptcy, procedure, under the Powers of Criminal Courts Act 1973. The relevant portions of this Act are printed at Part II, Section 4, post, pp.794 et seq.; they are also noted under the relevant sections of the principal Act. This scheme was intended to satisfy public indignation against the criminal retaining the proceeds of his crime and enjoying them after serving any custodial sentence. It provides for the making of a criminal bankruptcy order, on the conclusion of a criminal trial where the convicted person is found to have caused loss or damage
